Energized for Socialize: Turning the App Into a Social Game

Talk to AppMakr co-founder Sean Shadmand about Socialize, and chances are he’ll bring up the term “game mechanics.” But what does this mean to the average app creator who’s interested in Socialize?

“I am curious to see if Socialize will motivate users to use the app multiple times per day rather than just once (like now),” said Erin Boudreau, creator of the TweeParties app.

Apps equipped with Socialize feed into a gaming mindset because they track and highlight user activity. Users will see when an app’s content has new comments, and their curiosity will draw them into articles they would have scanned past before. It’s a subconscious challenge: read what everyone else has read, keep on top of all the new comments.

For Boudreau’s app, that sort of content and social engagement is perfect. Her app delivers info and daily updates on Twitter parties and events. “Those events are all about community and socializing,” she said. “I’m excited to be able to bring together our users in one place and have them trade ideas and information about what they experience during these events.”

Sounds like a #winning idea.
